Drill Division Positions

CCL Trenchless Solutions offer our clients an end-to-end service taking care of all aspects of the drilling project from planning, design, drilling, connecting to mains services to final as-builts, all project managed and delivered by one team currently. We are now hoping to resource a second team to utilise our two Vermeer drills.

Because we take care of all aspects of the drilling project you also have the opportunity to train in more than just locating and operating the directional drill. You will play a key role in a tight knit and highly motivated crew delivering HDD pipe solutions on the regions water network. All the work we undertake is in the Greater Wellington or South Wairarapa regions so you won’t need to disrupt your personal life with requirements to work away from home.

Take responsibility for setting up the directional drill, launch and exit pits and drilling to predetermined path to install pipe. You will be skilled in:

  • mud mixing,
  • reaming,
  • locating and interpreting information about the drill head underground,
  • understanding elevations and depths and
  • locating and avoiding services.

You will also need a clean drivers license, good literacy and numeracy skills, care and attention to detail and a high level of motivation.

    You will learn all about our Vermeer directional drills – how to safely set up and operate a horizontal directional drill, potholing and location of services, locating the drill head underground . Ultimately you will work together with the drill operator to keep the drill head running along the bore path to guide and deliver the pipe to the project requirements.

    This is an entry level position that requires you to:

    • be physically fit and agile
    • have good manual handling and dexterity
    • have and understanding and interest in heavy plant and machinery, power tools, their maintenance and operation.
    • be able to dig, lift, carry, and place heavy objects.
